Air Repair Inc. has invested heavily in surplus parts inventories, in manufacturing approved replacement parts , and in the approval of repair and improvement processes. They take a comprehensive approach and have gathered all the major and most of the minor ignition, carburetion and starter inventories relevant to these engines. They also produce replacement parts for these units and stock, and / or manufacture all of the support items such as propellers, oil filter kits, engine shock mounts etc. everything that would be consumed or replaced at an engine change.
More than likely they don’t.
Air Repair Inc. overhauls the aircraft including the engine. They then flight test every finished aircraft and give customer support from a whole airplane perspective.
Many overhaulers have never flown behind their product let alone incorporated their product into a finished aircraft.
Air Repair Inc. purchased the production rights and FAA approval on the Jacobs and continental engines., therefore they have all the original drawings to work from. Air Repair Inc. has invested heavily in approvals, engineering, manufacturing and surplus inventories to support these 80 year old engines.
